The Gallery
In February of 1999, six years before his death, GREGOIRE BOONZAIER established a gallery at ONRUS RIVER to feature THE ART OF GREGOIRE BOONZAIER. It is called GALERIE GREGOIRE. He was then in his 90th year and celebrating his 75th as an artist.

The GREGOIRE BOONZAIER GALLERY or GALERIE GREGOIRE is both a dealership and a ‘museum’. Gregoire  wrote,  ‘I have reached the age when I am no longer able to receive potential buyers or dealers in order to sell my work from my studio. Not only is this labour extremely exhausting, but for an older and recognised painter, most undignified. I have therefore decided to launch my own gallery, where a sympathetic and experienced staff will attend to the sale of my work.’

To create an appropriate ambience the artist decided to exhibitvarious items of my large private collection of antiques (that) have not only enriched my life, but also those of my family and intimate friends.’

He proceeded with this concomitant intention: My gallery will encourage young art enthusiasts to begin their own collections, perhaps if a start is made with a modest drawing , linocut or even reproduction. Hopefully it may enable me to continue at my leisure with further creative work - until the end!’

A decade later in 2009, GALERIE GREGOIRE is still devoted exclusively to the ART OF GREGOIRE BOONZAIER, and houses the largest collection of his oils, watercolours, pastels, drawings, lino prints and reproductions available anywhere. Visitors will find a representative selection that reflects  his remarkable versatility as an artist, as well as the aforementioned display of objets d’ art , memorabilia, the MANY AWARDS BESTOWED ON GREGOIRE BOONZAIER and BOOKS ABOUT GREGOIRE BOONZAIER.
Although many of the works exhibited are on loan from private collections, there is a good variety re topics and media for sale too. An effort is made to rotate works from time to time so that returning visitors will invariably find some surprises to view.

It is  hoped that by showcasing the work of GREGOIRE BOONZAIER, a master craftsman, younger people, students, lovers of art and prospective collectors will become enthused to explore further, not only his special virtuosity, but also that of others, particularly next-generation talents.
Based on records, approximately 30 000 people have visited the gallery during the past decade, and at least as many the original website.
